Pickreign, Cummings Named Eagles of the Week

Pickreign backstopped women's hockey to two wins, Cummings finished third at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College sophomore Kelly Pickreign and freshman Nick Cummings have been named the Musco Lighting Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.

Cummings placed third overall at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Ga. The rookie golfer was 9-under for the 54-hole tournament, finishing five strokes off the lead. The Weston, Mass. native improved in each of his three rounds of play, opening with a 70 (-2), before carding a 69 (-3) and final round 68 (-4). Cummings played the par-4 holes for the weekend at 3-under, while tying for the best scoring average on par-5 holes (4.42), playing those holes at 7-under. Cummings' 15 birdies ranked third among the field.

Pickreign backstopped the women's hockey team to a two-win weekend against Merrimack and at Vermont. On Friday night in the home-opening win over Merrimack, Pickreign made 18 saves for her first career shutout and the third of the season for the Eagles to mark the first time in program history that BC posted three shutouts in the first five games of a season. On Sunday in a 3-2 victory at Vermont, the Harvard, Mass. native made a career-high 33 saves – including 24 in the first 40 minutes – for her second conference win of the weekend.
