Eagles Finish 5th at New England Championships

JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – The Boston College men's cross country team finished in fifth place at the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Franklin Park.

BC finished with 173 points and two in the top 25. They trailed Providence (42 points), Northeastern (75), UMass (168) and Dartmouth (170).

The Eagles improved on their 10th-place finish a year ago, where they scored 244 points.

Sean Sullivan led the way for the Eagles, finishing in 23rd with a time of 25:30. Closely following was Ben Ruffing, who crossed the finish line right after in 24th with a 25:32.

Closing following that pair was Alex Horgan, who ran a 25:46 to place 31st. Jack Carter was then the first freshman to cross the finish line for BC in 41st with a 25:55. Last on the scoring team was Carter's classmate, Erik Linden, who ran a 26:06 for 54th.

Those five all ran career-bests today.
