The swim and dive team hits the road for the first time this season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass – The Boston College swimming and diving team hits the road for their first dual meet of the season, heading to Bryant for a 6:00 PM meet on Friday.
Both sides of the Eagles' squad are coming off of impressive performances in their season-opening meet at the Connell Recreation Center. Both the men's and women's team took the overall wins over the two-day meet, while also besting each of their opponents in dual scoring. The women earned a total of 1,280 points while the men totaled 1,193.
The newest Eagles highlighted the opening meet, as Matt Clark earned more points than any other male competitor after finishing first in all three of his individual events (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke). Classmate Nicole Barkemeyer put up a 2:04.34 in the 200 backstroke to put her performance at eighth-best all time at Boston College. Lindsey Ryalls joined Barkemeyer in the record books, finishing the 400 individual medley in 4:32.68, good for 10th-best in program history.
While the Bulldogs have yet to compete in the 2019-20 year, the women's team capped last season with their second-straight Northeast Conference championship title and were selected by league head coaches as the favorite to take the top spot for a third straight year. The men found similar highs, finishing in second place in the conference for the first time in program history.
Following the dual-meet, the Eagles continue their road swing as they head to take on Loyola Maryland and George Washington University next weekend.
