The two-time captain headlines a group of five Eagles selected to the All-ACC Academic Team
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Senior captain Frederique Haverhals has been named the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, headlining a group of five Eagles named to the All-ACC Academic Team. Haverhals joins Janna Anctil '11 as the only Eagles to have received the honor since joining the ACC in 2005.
Haverhals, a two-time captain, led the Eagles in the 2018 season with nine goals, three game-winning goals, 61 shots and 22 total points. She is the only Eagle to have earned All-Northeast Region honors from the NFHCA each year of her career, as well as a three-time NFHCA All-American selection and a two-time All-ACC Team selection. She has also been named to the All-ACC Academic Team each year of her career, joining just three other ACC seniors in the accomplishment. She joins just three Eagles – Bob Dirks '09, Paige Norris '14, and Kristine Stigas '11 – in garnering All-ACC Academic Team honors each year of her career. Haverhals maintained at least a 3.0 throughout her career as a Finance major.
Fellow senior captain Lucy Lytle, an Information Systems major, was named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the third year of her career, joining just four other current ACC student-athletes.
Juniors Sarah Dwyer and Brigid Wood join Haverhals and Lytle along with graduate student Brooke Matherson in reigning in a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team for the 2018 season.
Honorees named to the All-ACC Academic Team must have earned a 3.0 GPA in their previous semester as well as a cumulative 3.0 GPA over their career.
