CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College men's basketball guard Ky Bowman and women's hockey forward Caitrin Lonergan have been named the Nissan Eagles of the Week following their performances last week.
Bowman averaged 25.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in a 1-1 week for the Eagles. In a win over No. 11 Florida State on Jan. 20, Bowman poured in 37 points (13-18 FG; 6-8 3FG; 5-7 FT) and tallied nine rebounds and three assists. Bowman now owns the three highest scoring games of the season in the ACC. At Louisville on Jan. 16, Bowman tallied 14 points, 13 rebounds and a season-high seven assists. It was his sixth double-double of the season, fourth among all ACC players and first among all players nationally at 6-1 or shorter. Bowman was the only player in the country to average at least 25.5/11.0/5.0 during the past week.
Lonergan racked up four points for the No. 10 Eagles in a two-win weekend at Vermont. Her four points tied for tops in Hockey East on the week. On Friday night, the junior assisted on Megan Keller's game-winning goal early in the third period of the 4-2 victory and finished with two shots on goal. Saturday saw Lonergan put up a season-high three points on two goals and one assist. She assisted on another Keller goal in the first period before scoring once in the second and once in the third. Lonergan poured five shots on goal in the 5-2 win, and she finished a plus-4 and six face-off wins on the weekend. Saturday marked Lonergan's seventh multiple-point outing of the season and her assist on Friday marked the fifth time this year she's been involved in the game-winning goal.
