ST. LAWRENCE RECAP
The Eagles opened the EISA alpine season last weekend at the St. Lawrence Carnival in windy conditions at Whiteface Mountain near Lake Placid. The women's team took seventh place in the giant slalom with three top-40 finishers on day two.
Sophomore Parker Biele was 15th after the first women's GS run before slipping back to 18th overall to match her top career EISA finish, which she collected at last year's UVM Carnival. Senior Amanda Steffey clocked a time which earned her 34th place, while Madeline Davis gave the Eagles three racers in the top-40. Rookie Bobby Ryan was the top men's finisher on the day, placing 23rd from bib 53.
In the slalom, freshman Carleigh Leyman sat in 13th place overall after the first run from bib 40, but she suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second run of her collegiate debut. Biele was the top Eagle finisher as she took 26th for the women, while Trent Gutstein led the men's team in the slalom, collecting 23rd place.
