Cortens, Creedon Named Eagles of the Week

Cortens had a record-setting weekend for the swim team while Creedon took first in the pentathlon.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior Taylor Cortens from swimming and sophomore Jessica Creedon from women's track and field have been named the Nissan Eagles of the Week following their performances last week.

Cortens earned three individual wins and contributed to one first-place relay finish against Dartmouth on Friday night. His 100-yard individual medley time of 52.64 set the all-time program record, and the senior captain now holds 11 Boston College records. He also placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (51.16) and 100-yard backstroke (52.14). The relay squad of Cortens, Billy Miller, Colin O'Leary and Colin Derdeyn earned first in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in 1:33.50. Against Marist on Saturday, that same 200-yard medley squad took first in 1:33.67. Cortens also won the 100-yard breaststroke (57.03) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.48).

Creedon won the pentathlon at the Havard Multi Meet on Friday night with 3512 points. The sophomore took first in the 800-meter dash in 2:25.00 and had second-place finishes in the long jump (16'11.25") and high jump (5'4.5"). Creedon wrapped up the five-event competition with a third-place finish in the shot put (32'9.75") and fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.34).
