COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four current Boston College women's hockey players along with two recent graduates have been invited to USA Hockey's National Women's Team Evaluation Camp, as announced Friday by USA Hockey.
Megan Keller, Kali Flanagan, Caitrin Lonergan and Cayla Barnes along with Katie Burt ('18) and Haley Skarupa ('16) are part of a 37-player pool chosen to take part in the camp, which runs from Sept. 13-17 at the Harold Alfond Forum on the campus of the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. While there, the players will be split into two teams and participate in three intrasquad scrimmages. A full list of invitees can be found here.
The quartet of Keller, Flanagan, Barnes and Skarupa were a part of the gold-medal winning U.S. National team at the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang. Additionally, Barnes, Flanagan, Keller, Burt and Lonergan attended the USA Hockey Women's National Festival in August, with Lonergan, Burt and Barnes earning spots on the Under-22 Women's Select Team that battled Canada's National Women's Development Team in a three-game series.
Lonergan finished her sophomore campaign with 75 points on 30 goals and 45 assists, finishing second in the nation to teammate Daryl Watts. Her 45 helpers tied the single-season program record while her points and assists total were BC sophomore records. Barnes skated in five games for the Eagles to start the 2017-18 season but was called into the U.S. National Team in late October. Skarupa and Barnes played in all five games en route to the gold medal while Flanagan played 77 shifts at the Olympics across all five games and Keller led all U.S. players in shifts in PyeongChang, hitting the ice 152 times and recording two assists.
