September 20, 2018 | Women's Soccer
Eagles drop the Orange, 3-0, in first ACC match.
NEWTON, Mass. -
Three different players scored as Boston College defeated ACC foe Syracuse, 3-0, to extend the Eagles winning streak to nine consecutive games Thursday night.
BC is now 9-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in ACC play, while Syracuse is now 3-7-0 and 0-2 in the conference play. Boston College will host No. 7 Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m. Syracuse will play at Louisville on Sunday.
The Eagles opened the game with two early goals. Freshman Kayla Duran scored her first career goal, followed by a goal by redshirt junior Kayla Jennings for a 2-0 BC lead just 16 minutes into the game. Both goals were set up by corner kicks from sophomore Sam Coffey.
BC goalkeeper Alexis Bryant was tested right after the Eagles took the 2-0 lead. Syracuse junior Steph deLaforcade ripped a shot form 24 yards out to the top near corner, but Bryant controlled the shot to keep the Orange of the board. It would be the only dangerous threat from the Orange in the 90 minutes.
Senior Carly Leipzig extended BC's lead in the 76th minute on her third goal of the season. Leipzig one-timed a cross from sophomore Riley Lochhead, who was sent down the line on a great lead ball from Coffey.
