September 18, 2018 | Women's Basketball
Eagles host five NCAA Tournament teams, including Notre Dame & Syracuse
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – The Boston College women's basketball team and the Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2018-19 schedule this afternoon, which features eight home conference games at Silvio O. Conte Forum.
Â
The ACC Network Extra will live stream 14 of BC's 16 ACC games, and nine non-conference this season. Two games will air on a regional network (NESN).
Â
"The opportunity to compete in the ACC, which is the premier women's basketball conference in the country, is exciting for our players, staff and fans. With a young team, our goal is to prepare them through our non-conference schedule to be ready for the challenges of conference play. We are looking forward to having many of our non-conference games at home and then opening up ACC play here on The Heights.'' said BC head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee."
Â
Boston College will play nine non-conference and eight ACC games at Conte Forum this season. Of those eight ACC home matches, five of the teams coming to the Heights competed in the 2017-18 NCAA Tournament – NC State, Florida State, Duke, Syracuse and 2017-18 National Champion Notre Dame.
 Â
The Eagles will open 2018-19 ACC action at home on Thursday, Jan. 3 against Georgia Tech. Three days later NC State will come to Conte Forum for a 2 p.m. tip off. Both games will be aired on the ACC Network Extra.
Â
BC will then set out on a two-game road swing. On Thursday, Jan. 10, Boston College will be at Wake Forest, followed by a Sunday, Jan. 13 tilt at Pittsburgh. Both games will air on the local regional sports network (NESN).
Â
There is no rest for the weary in the ACC as the Eagles will then host Florida State four days later on Thursday, Jan. 17. Â BC will turn around and fly to Indiana to play the Fighting Irish on Sunday, Jan. 20, the first of two regular season games against Notre Dame. A rare Thursday night off will help the Eagles prepare for a trip to Florida as they will play at Miami on Jan. 27.
Â
The Eagles finally get to sleep in their own beds for a two-game home swing as BC will host Duke on Thursday, Jan. 31, followed by a Sunday afternoon game against Virginia Tech (Feb. 3).
Â
Up next for BC would be a trip to Virginia to play the Cavaliers on Thursday, Feb. 7, and then head north to take on former Big East rival Syracuse on Sunday, Feb. 10.
Â
A second two-game home stand is up next as the Eagles will play Notre Dame Wednesday, Feb. 13, followed by Clemson on Saturday, Feb. 16.
Â
The Eagles final three games are at North Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 21, followed by a trip to Louisville on Sunday, Feb. 24, before they return home for the final regular season game against Syracuse on Sunday, March 3.
Â
The season opener for Boston College is on Thursday, Nov. 8 at URI. The home opener is on Sunday, Nov. 11 as the Eagles host St. Peter's at 4 p.m.
Â
BC will also hold the annual Field Trip Day against Holy Cross on Thursday, Nov. 15. The game is free to attend for all students K-through-8 and their chaperones. If you are a teacher interested in bringing your class or school, please contact Drew Read at readan@bc.edu or 617-552-0787.
