September 14, 2018 | Field Hockey
LOUISVILLE, Ky.:Â The No. 9 Boston College field hockey team battled to the literal last second in their second ACC match up of the season, but fell, 1-0, to No. 8 Louisville following three straight corner opportunities with no time remaining.
The first half showed no change in score, despite the Eagles' four penalty corner chances. The Eagles and Cardinals each recorded two shots throughout the half. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer recorded two saves over the opening half.
The Cardinals opened the second half with a Dwyer-saved penalty corner. The Eagles had two minutes of a woman-advantage during a green card on Mackenzie Karl but could not find any shot opportunities.
The Eagles had a total of nine corner opportunities throughout the Top-10 match up, but the Cardinal defense and goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran prevented any ball from making it to the back of the cage.
