Dwyer Earns ACC Weekly Honors

The junior goalkeeper recorded two wins and one shutout over the weekend.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College field hockey's junior goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Dwyer earned two wins over the weekend, including her fifth-career shutout with a 1-0 win vs. Albany. This is her first time earning ACC weekly honors over her career.
She played the entirety of the weekend, recording 154:38 minutes over the two games as the match vs. conference opponent Wake Forest continued into double-overtime. She recorded seven saves over the two games and only allowed three goals.
Dwyer currently leads the conference in shutouts as she has blanked the Eagles' opponents twice over the four games she has seen action in so far this season. Â
Their 2-0 home-opener weekend prompted a four-spot increase in the weekly Penn Monto/NFHCA poll, pushing the Eagles from No. 13 to No. 9. The Eagles return to play with a conference matchup on Friday, Sept. 14 as they head to Louisville for a 6 p.m. game.
