Five Newcomers Set to Join Eagles

Men’s track and field adds five to 2018-19 roster
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's track & field team will welcome five newcomers to the program to begin the 2018-19 season. The incoming class includes student-athletes from four different states who will be competing in sprints, hurdles, mid-distance and distance events.
Russell Wells
Wells, a native of Wilbraham, Mass., is a fifth-year transfer from the University of Massachusetts. At UMass, Wells ran the program's all-time second-fastest indoor 800m at 1:52.10. A standout on the track and in the classroom, he was awarded the UMass Male Athlete's Highest GPA Award and the Isenberg-McCormack Top Senior Award, as well as being an eight-time Atlantic 10 Honor Roll member. Wells holds the school record in the 800m at Minnechaug Regional High School (1:53.41).

Gordon Pollock
Pollock, a cross country and distance runner, hails from Pittsburgh, Pa. A two-time district and state cross country champion, Pollock also shined on the track in the 800m, as he set a new school standard at Winchester Thurston School in the 800m at 1:57.97.

Alexander Horgan
Horgan is a native of Wilmington, Del. and will compete in both cross country and distance events on the track. While at the St. Andrew's School, Horgan re-wrote the school record book, holding top marks in the 1600m, Mile, 3000m, 3200m and the distance medley relay. A two-time First Team All-State honoree in cross country, Horgan placed third in 2017 and fourth in 2016 at the Delaware Division II State Cross Country Championship.

Marcus Manson
Manson, a native of Windsor, Conn., will compete for the Eagles in both sprints and hurdles. While a prep at Windsor H.S., he set school records in the 300m and 400m hurdles, as well as the 600m run. Manson was a five-time All-State and All-New England honoree.

Erik Linden
Linden hails from Dover, Mass. and is a middle distance specialist. He placed second in the 1000m at the 2018 Massachusetts Indoor State Championship and fourth in the mile at the New England Indoor Championship. A two-time team MVP at Dover-Sherborn H.S., Linden holds the school record for the 600m, 800m, 1000m, mile and two-mile.
