Sam Coffey Named To All-ACC Preseason Team

Eagles to host Quinnipiac in season opener on Aug. 17

Boston College sophomore Sam Coffey was named to the 2018 All-ACC Preseason Team as voted on by the coaches, as announced today.
The Eagles midfielder was an All-ACC third-team honoree and an All-ACC Freshman team selection in 2017. A native of Sleepy Hollow, New York, Coffey led the Eagles on offense with five goals and 10 assists for 20 points. She was one of three sophomores to be named to the 11-player preseason ACC team.
In other conference news, women's soccer team was predicted to finish tenth in the highly-competitive ACC preseason poll, following a vote of the league's 14 head coaches.
UNC was voted to finish first in the conference, while Florida State was selected to finish second. Virginia was third, followed by Duke at fourth, NC State in fifth, Clemson sixth, Notre Dame seven, followed by Wake Forest (No. 9) and Louisville (9th). The Eagles, who placed eighth overall in 2017 with a 4-5-1 conference record, was voted to place 10th. Virginia Tech (11th), Syracuse (12th), Miami (13th) and Pittsburgh (14th) round out the preseason poll.
Boston College will open the 2018 season on Friday, August 17, when they host Quinnipiac in the opener. The teams will kick off at 7 p.m. at the Newton Campus Field. Admission is free for all BC women's soccer regular season games.
