Eagles to host ACC Championships
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's cross country team has announced its 2018 schedule, which includes three meets at Franklin Park in Boston.
The Eagles open the season on Sept. 8 at the Nassaney Invitational, hosted by Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Head coach Matt Kerr and his staff view the meet as a chance for all the athletes to compete, as well as an opportunity for the team to contend for the win.
On Sept. 21, Boston College hosts the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at Franklin Park. The course will be the same one used for the ACC Championship later in the season, so the meet will be the first of two chances for the team to preview the course. The Eagles will see some top competition at the meet, including four teams that finished in the top-25 at the 2017 NCAA Championships last season - Ole Miss, Syracuse, Virginia and Washington. Other top teams competing include Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, UMass Lowell and Providence.
After a week off, the 106th running of the New England Championship will take place in Franklin Park on Oct. 6. The Eagles, who did not compete as a team at last year's meet, have an eye on the team podium in 2018.
The ACC Championships return to Franklin Park on Oct. 26 for the first time since the 2010 season. BC will look to improve upon last year's 14th place finish, led by rising senior Sean Burke, who finished in 17th place.
For the second-consecutive year, the NCAA Northeast Regional will be held in Buffalo, N.Y. On Nov. 9, Burke will look to qualify individually for the NCAA Championships for the second time in his career. The NCAA Championships will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin, Nov. 17 in Madison.
