Christian Cavaliere Qualifies for 118th U.S. Amateur Championship

Championship to be held from August 13-19 at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --Â Christian Cavaliere qualified for the 118th United States Amateur Championship, held August 13-19 at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif.
Cavaliere won his sectional qualifier, held at the Willow Ridge C.C. (par 71/6,427 yards) in Harrison, N.Y., with a 5-under par total score of 137. The rising junior opened with a 1-under 70 before carding a 4-under 67 in the second round of play. The top two finishers advance to the U.S. Amateur. Cavaliere took individual medalist honors by one stroke, over Etienne Brault of Quebec.
For the 36 holes of play, Cavaliere registered nine birdies and 23 pars. He played the par 3 holes at 1-under while playing the par 5 holes at 4-under.
Pebble Beach Golf Links will be hosting its 12th USGA championship, having hosted four previous U.S. Amateurs, the last in 1999. Pebble Beach has also hosted five U.S. Opens (1972, 1982, 1992, 2000, 2010) and will host the 119th U.S. Open in 2019. Spyglass Hill Golf Course was also the stroke-play co-host for the 1999 U.S. Amateur.
