Women's Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule
July 16, 2018 | Women's Basketball
Field Trip Day on Thursday, Nov. 15 vs. Holy Cross at 11:30 a.m.
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – The Boston College women's basketball team has announced its 2018-19 non-conference schedule, which features nine home games in Conte Forum.
"We are looking forward to this non-conference schedule which will prepare our young team for the challenge that is the Atlantic Coast Conference, particularly road games at Houston and St. Joseph's, as well as a game here in Conte against NCAA tournament participant Minnesota,'' said BC head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee. "Our schedule also includes some good local rivalries that we plan to keep going for the foreseeable future, including Providence, Boston University, and Holy Cross."
In the first month, Boston College will be on the Conte Forum hardwood for three of the first seven games.
The Eagles will open the 2018-19 campaign at Rhode Island on Thursday, Sept. 9. BC will then return home for a two-game stint. The Eagles will host St. Peter's in the home opener on Sunday, Nov. 11.
The second game of the home stand is on Thursday, Nov. 15, as the Eagles will host old rival Holy Cross at 11:30 a.m.
The game will serve as the annual Field Trip Day for local elementary and middle schools to attend the game. Field Trip Day is free to attend for all students K-through-8 and their chaperones. If you are a teacher interested in bringing your class or school, please contact Drew Read at readan@bc.edu or 617-552-0787.
Boston College will then head to Texas to play Houston on Sunday, November 18, before heading to Philadelphia for the St. Joseph's Hawk Classic. BC will open up against Loyola (MD) in the first round on Nov. 24. On Sunday, BC will play either St. Joseph's or Rider.
The final game in November will be at Conte Forum as the Eagles will host former Big East rival Providence on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
In December, BC will be home in the comforts of Conte Forum for all six games.
Columbia will start the month off on Sunday, Dec. 2, followed by Bryant on Thursday, Dec. 6.
Minnesota, from the Big Ten, will visit Conte Forum for the second time in program history. The two teams will play on Sunday, Dec. 9. The Golden Gophers defeated Boston College, 78-68, last year despite 19 points from then-rookie Sydney Lowery.
The Eagles will have one week off to take finals and resume play on Sunday, Dec. 16 at home against cross-town rival Boston University. A rare Friday night tilt will take place on Dec. 21, as the Eagles host Campbell. This will be the second meeting between BC and Campbell. The two teams played in Dec. of 1988 at the USF Tournament and BC won, 69-44, behind 16 points apiece from BC Hall of Famers Leslie Bjerstedt and Amy Lacombe.
The final game in December, BC will host Ivy League rival Dartmouth on Saturday, Dec. 29.
The Eagles will also play a strong conference as they will play Syracuse and Notre Dame on the road and at home.
The rest of the road schedule has BC at Pittsburgh, Virginia, Wake Forest, Miami, North Carolina and Louisville. Boston College will host Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and NC State.
