Four Eagles Invited to Young Women's National Championship

Atchison, Govaert, McGovern and Wood to represent BC at the 2018 YWNC in Lancaster, Pa.

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Four Boston College field hockey players have been invited to the 2018 Young Women's National Championship, which serves a selection avenue to the Junior National Camp and ultimately the 2018-19 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team and U.S. Women's National Development Team. BC standouts Cassidy Atchison, Fusine Govaert, Caroline McGovern and Brigid Wood will all represent the Eagles.

The YWNC, hosted by USA Field Hockey, will take place at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa.

Atchison, a sophomore back/midfielder, scored a pair of goals as a rookie last season. Govaert, a sophomore forward/midfielder, played in all 19 games and came on to start the final 12. She totaled 13 points with 12 goals and one assist.

McGovern, a sophomore forward, tallied nine points on three goals and three assists in her first season at BC. Junior midfielder Wood, a former member of the U.S. U-19 Junior National Team, started 14 of 19 games played in 2017 and recorded one assist.
