Men's Golf Earns Several Postseason Awards

Christian Cavaliere, Tyler Kertson, Matt Naumec and head coach Drew Kayser honored
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Several members of the Boston College men's golf program earned postseason honors.
Christian Cavaliere, Tyler Kertson, and Matt Naumec each earned PING All-Northeast Region and All-New England honors, while Naumec was selected New England Player of the Year and Drew Kayser was named New England Coach of the Year.
Cavaliere finished the 2017-18 season ranked third on the Eagles in scoring, averaging 73.62 strokes per round. The sophomore from Katonah, N.Y. made nine starts for BC, totaling 27 rounds of play. He was the individual medalist at the Clemson Invitational from April 13-15, firing a 6-under par score of 210 (68-71-71), helping the Eagles earn the team title by two strokes. Cavaliere made three top-15 finishes and posted a low round of 67 during the opening round of the Hartford Hawks Invitational on Sept. 18. He was 29th at the ACC Championship.
Kertson played his final season of collegiate golf with BC as a graduate student during the 2017-18 campaign. The Paradise Valley, Ariz. native ranked second on the team with a 73.10 scoring average. Kertson made nine starts and played 27 rounds for Boston College. His best finish of the year came at the Seahawk Invitational, held March 25-26, where he finished fourth overall. Kertson made two top-10 finishes and had a low round of 64 in the first round of the Hartford Hawks Invitational on Sept. 18. Kertson tied for 38th place at the ACC Championship.
Naumec concluded his 2017-18 season at the NCAA Regional Championship, held at the OSU Golf Club's Scarlet Course from May 14-16. BC's team's leader in stroke average at 71.38, the junior made 10 starts and played 30 rounds. Naumec made seven top 10 finishes, including a pair of runner-up finishes at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate and the Clemson Invitational. The junior from Wilbraham, Mass. led the Eagles with a 21st place finish at the ACC Championship and tied for 34th place at the NCAA Regional.
Kayser earned New England Coach of the Year honors for the first time in his tenure as the head coach of the Eagles' men's golf program. A PGA of America Master Professional, Kayser has served as head coach of BC's men's and women's golf programs since 2012 after serving for four seasons as an assistant. He has consistently ranked as one of the best golf instructors in Massachusetts by Golf Digest and was the New England PGA Teacher of the Year in 2010.
