Naumec Cards Second Round 72 at NCAA Golf Championship

Junior was 1-under over final three holes in weather-affected round
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Matt Naumec sits in a tie for 30th place after day two of the 2018 NCAA Golf Championship completed play early on Wednesday morning. Tuesday's second round was postponed due to lightning and Naumec was halted after completing the 15th hole.
The junior closed strong on the restart, with a birdie on the par 4 16th hole, followed by two pars to card a 1-over par 71 in the second round. He also registered a birdie on the par 4 9th hole earlier in the round.
The Wilbraham, Mass. native ranks third among all individual qualifiers and 13th among all individuals that are not among the top five teams.
Naumec carded an opening round 77 (+6) at the OSU Golf Club's Scarlet Course (par 71/7,364 yards). The junior posted 10 pars and birdied the par 4 16th hole during Monday's round - which was halted for a little over an hour due to lightning.
The third and final round of play at the Columbus regional gets underway on Wednesday morning. Naumec tees off at 9:53 am ET from the first tee.
