CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College coed sailing team and freshman baseball player Chris Galland have been named Nissan Eagles of the Week for their outstanding performances last week.
The sailing team of Scott Sinks, Alice Bohan and Tara Ferraris won the NEISA Coed Championship over the weekend hosted by Brown University at the Edgewood Yacht Club and Ted Turner Sailing Pavilion. The Eagles won the event with 149 points with Roger Williams in second with 167 points. In a very close division, the Eagles placed fourth overall with 88 points. Dartmouth placed first with 85 points, followed by Yale with 87 and Brown was third with 88 points.
Galland stole two bases at Notre Dame this weekend to break the Boston College single-season record with 28 on the year. He leads the ACC and is fourth in the nation. The outfielder also recorded five hits and two RBIs in the four BC games last week. He has reached base safely in the last 18 games, tying for the longest on-base streak of the season. Galland is 28-for-29 on the stolen-base path and was the first-ever Eagle to steal 20 bases without being caught.Â

The sailing team returns to action on Saturday – Sunday, April 21 – 22 when it competes for the Reed trophy in New London, Conn. The baseball team resumes ACC play when it hosts Louisville for a three game series beginning on Friday, May 4 at 6 p.m.
