Duca Named to All-ACC Academic Indoor Track & Field Team

The junior had a breakout indoor campaign
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior track and field runner Paige Duca has been named to the All-ACC Academic Indoor Track & Field Team, the conference announced Thursday.
An operations management major from Rockville Center, N.Y. Duca is the only runner from BC to be named to the team. NCAA champions Vincent Ciattei of Virginia Tech and Nicole Greene of North Carolina were named 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
The junior mid-distance runner had a breakout indoor season on the track. Duca won the mile at the Beantown Challenge with a time of 4:53.83. She earned first place in the 3000 meter run at the BU Multi Team Meet, crossing the line in 9:53.01. She had a third place finish in the 1000 meter run at the John Thomas Terrier Classic (2:48.34).
The junior was also a member of the distance medley relay team that won the event at the New England Championships. Duca ran a 4:37.55 in the one mile run at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational to move into fourth place in the BC record books. She earned All-ACC honors for her third place finish in the one mile run with a time of 4:44.34 at the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Rockville Center, N.Y. native was one of 16 women nationally to qualify for the mile at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, becoming the first women to qualify since Jillian King in 2014. Â She finished 15th with a time of 4:46.49 for second team All-America honors.
Duca returns to the track for the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. on Friday – Saturday, April 20 – 21.
