Both Eagles scored game-winning goals last week
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College redshirt senior lacrosse player Tess Chandler and freshman hockey player Christopher Grando have been tabbed Nissan Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.
Â
Chandler recorded a six-goal week - four of which came at No. 12/14 Southern California. One of her goals at USC pulled the game into overtime. Just over a minute in to OT, the three-time team captain scored the game-winner to secure a 13-12 victory and keep the Eagles undefeated. Chandler also produced two goals at San Diego State in addition to picking up three ground balls and causing a turnover in the 19-8 victory.Â
Â
Grando scored his first goal in 23 games and it was a big one as the Islip, N.Y. native scored the overtime winner 4:20 into the session. It marked the first-year forward's first goal since his two-goal showing at Vermont on Nov. 11. The tally stands as his sixth of the season (6-11-17) and his third game-winning goal of the year. Oddly enough, Grando's last goal was an overtime short-handed game winner as well. Grando has accounted for two short-handed goals on the season as the rookie notched his first point as an Eagle in postseason play. Grando also assisted on JD Dudek's goal to account for his third multi-point showing of the season.
Â
The women's lacrosse team looks to remain undefeated when it takes on ACC rival Louisville on Saturday, March 17 at noon in Louisville, Ky. The men's hockey team will play Boston University in the Hockey East Semifinals on Friday, March 16 at 5 p.m. at TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
