
Mattila, Lyons Named Eagles of the Week

Mattila scores his first career hat trick, Lyons grabs two podium spots.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College men's hockey junior Julius Mattila and women's track and field junior Julia Lyons have been named the Nissan Eagles of the Week following their performances this past weekend.

Matilla scored his first career hat trick in BC's win at UConn on Thursday night. The forward sealed last Thursday's 4-0 win at UConn by capping his hat trick in the third period and added an assist to tie his career-high with four points. The junior collected another assist in Friday's 3-2 home victory over the Huskies to close the series sweep with five points. Mattila, who ranks second in Hockey East in scoring during conference play with 14 points, was tabbed the Hockey East Player of the Week.

Lyons and the women's track and field team competed at the Howlin' Husky Invitational over the weekend, with the junior earning a first place and second place finish in two events. Lyons used a mark of 19'3.5" in the long jump to earn the top podium spot. In the 60-meter dash, the Lafayette, Calif. Native used a 7.81 to take second. Both of those marks were personal records for Lyons while her 60 meter time ranks second all-time in BC history. On the day, the Eagles had 15 individual/relay teams grab a top-10 spot.
