Eagles Close Out Season at NCAA Regional

BC placed 24th in Buffalo
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Boston College men's cross country team closed out the season with a 24th-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional with 630 points on Friday afternoon at the Audubon Golf Course.

Senior Sean Burke was the first Eagle to finish, completing the snowy 10K course in a time of 34:18.9 to place 52nd among the 241-runner field. Burke has led the Eagles in every race this season.

Junior Ian Ritchie and freshman Alexander Horgan came in second and third for BC, respectively. Ritchie placed 124th with his time of 35:24.4 while Horgan closed out an impressive rookie season for the Eagles at 35:45.5 for 145th place.

Syracuse won the team title with 79 points while Iona's 88 points were good for second. Both teams will earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championship in Madison, Wis. on Nov. 17. UMass Lowell senior Paul Hogan won the individual title with a time of 32:30.9.

- Sean Burke led BC for the fifth time this season with his 52nd-place finish. Burke ran the course in a time of 34:18.9.
- Ian Ritchie's time of 35:24.4 put him in 124th place while Alexander Horgan came in 145th overall with his time of 35:45.5.
- Senior Benjamin Osipow placed 160th with his time of 36:05.5 and senior Zachary Beston rounded out the scored runners in 160th place with a time of 36:59.8.
- Junior Sean Sullivan raced to 194th place with a time of 37:02.5.
