Four current players and four alumnae among the 44 players invited to the camp.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four current Boston College women's ice hockey players along with four recent graduates have been invited to the 2018 USA Hockey Women's Winter Training Camp, which will take place Dec. 17-21 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. The 44-player roster was announced Wednesday by USA Hockey.
Â
Current Eagles Caitrin Lonergan, Megan Keller, Kali Flanagan and Cayla Barnes will join Dana Trivigno '16, Alex Carpenter '16, Emily Pfalzer '15 and Katie Burt '18 at the camp. All four alumnae are playing professionally during the 2018-19 season. In the National Women's Hockey League, Burt and Trivigno are playing for the Boston Pride while Pfalzer is with the Buffalo Beauts. Carpenter is with the Kunlun Red Star in the Canadian Women's Hockey League. BC's four current collegian representatives are the most in Hockey East, with Boston University and Providence both having one player invited.Â
All eight Eagles have senior national team experience. Most recently, Lonergan, Barnes, Keller, Flanagan and Pfalzer represented Team USA at the 2018 Four Nations Cup. On Nov. 10, the team earned medals in what was the ninth overall Four Nations Cup title for the country.
The annual training camp serves as an opportunity to help the top players prepare for upcoming international events, including the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship. Of the 44 players invited, 20 are postgraduate players competing in professional leagues during the 2018-19 season, 23 are active NCAA players and one player competes in high school.Â
