Coffey, Bryant Earn ACC Weekly Honors

Sam Coffey was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Alexis Bryant earned Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors.

NEWTON, Mass. –  Sophomore Sam Coffey and graduate senior Alexis Bryant were garnered with ACC honors as announced by the conference this morning.

Coffey, a midfielder, was named the ACC's Offensive Player of the Week, for her two-game four goal performance last week. Coffey tallied her first hat trick in a 3-0 victory over Virginia Tech on Thursday night. The second-year player scored the first goal in the 2-0 win over No. 23 NC State on Sunday.

The Sleepy Hollow, New York native leads Boston College as well as the ACC in scoring with nine goals, 11 assists and 29 points. She is fourth in the nation in scoring and first in assists. Coffey has tallied a point in 11 of 14 games and has four game-winning goals this season.Â
Coffey was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week and earned the United Soccer Coaches Division 1 Player of the Week honors this afternoon.

Bryant, the Eagles goalkeeper, was named the ACC's Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her performance last week in two victories. This is the second time this season Bryant has been honored by the ACC.

Bryant, a native of Kensington, Md., had four saves in the two victories. She now has a career-high eight shutouts in the single season and 21 in her career. Bryant made a second-half save on a penalty kick against NC State to win her 13th game of the season. She now boasts a career-low 0.52 goals-against average.

In other BC women's soccer news, sophomore defender Gianna Mitchell was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Wee honor roll this week.
The Eagles moved up in the polls this week as they cracked the Top 10 in the US Coaches Poll at No. 8 and moved to 12 in the Top Drawer Soccer Poll.

Boston College is now 13-1-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the ACC. This is the best start in program history. The Eagles will next play Miami on Saturday at 7 p.m.Â
