McArthur Garners Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week Honors

Freshman backstopped BC to a two-win conference weekend, earned first career shutout.
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Hockey East announced Monday that Boston College freshman Maddy McArthur has been named the league's Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week after she backstopped the Eagles to wins over Merrimack and Vermont over the weekend.
The St. Catherines, Ontario native made 23 saves against the Warriors, with 12 of them coming in the third period of the 3-1 win. She followed up Friday's win with her first career shutout, posting 25 saves in a 3-0 win over the Catamounts. McArthur finished the weekend with 48 saves on 49 shots and a 0.50 goals against average. McArthur's .980 save percentage from the weekend was the third-best mark in the nation among netminders with at least two starts.
McArthur now sits at 5-2-0 on the year with a .939 save percentage and 1.43 goals against average. She leads rookie goaltenders in wins while her save percentage is fifth overall in the nation among goaltenders that have played at least five games.
No. 6 Boston College will hit the road next weekend for two conference games, traveling to Holy Cross on Friday, Oct. 26 before trekking to Maine for a Sunday matinee.
