Allen leads BC with eight tackles, Vaughn records brace
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College football senior Zach Allen and women's soccer junior Olivia Vaughn have been named the Nissan Eagles of the Week following their performances this past weekend.
Allen led BC with eight tackles, two sacks and four tackles for loss in the 45-35 win over Temple on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium. The captain's sack in the fourth quarter forced a critical Temple punt as BC scored on the following possession to secure the victory. Allen recorded two sacks and moved to ninth all-time at BC, tying Eric Lindstrom (1984-88) and Nick Larkin (2004-07) with 15.5 in his career. The New Canaan, Conn. native's four TFLs pushed his career total to 33, which is tied for sixth all-time at BC with Kevin Kavalec (2013-16) and Tim Morabito (1992-96).
Vaughn's brace at Clemson were instrumental in BC's 2-1 comeback win at Clemson on Sunday. Both of her goals were scored in the second half of the ACC match. Down 1-0 after a 69th minute goal by the Tigers, Vaughn had an unassisted strike from 20 yards out to tie it and then finished off a pass from Sam Coffey for the game-winner in the 82nd minute. It was the Montclair, N.J. native's second two-goal game of the season and fourth of her career.
