Burke Named To All-ACC Cross Country Academic Team

Junior Sean Burke was named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the first time in his career
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Junior Sean Burke was named to the All-ACC Cross Country team as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Burke was the only BC runner recognized along with 28 other student-athletes, including six from Virginia Tech, five from NC State, four from Syracuse, three from Florida State, three from Notre Dame, two from Pittsburgh, and one student-athlete from Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, Virginia, and Wake Forest.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate studies. Athletic achievements during the most recent reason are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Burke led the Eagles as their top finisher in four of the six meets during the 2017 cross country season. Specifically, he led the BC team with a fourth place finish at the Chile Pepper XC Festival in a field of 89 runners, completing the 10K race in 30:19.1. Burke raced the 8K at NCAA Pre-Nationals, where he crossed the line in 24:31.5 to earn an 11th place finish. He earned All-ACC Honors for the second year in a row with his 17th place finish in a field of 126 runners with a time of 23:59.6 in the 8K race at the ACC Championships in Louisville, Ky.

A native of Pleasanton, Calif., this is the first time that Burke has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
