Double Victory Day for Eagles
January 27, 2018 | Women's Tennis
Women's tennis dominated local foes UMass and BU
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's tennis team dominated two local foes Saturday, hosting a doubleheader beginning with University of Massachusetts at 10 a.m., then Boston University at 3:30 p.m. The Eagles (2-1, 0-1 ACC) downed both with a 6-1 score.
Â
"Nice to pick up two wins today," said head coach Nigel Bentley. "It was a long day and we kept our focus and intensity high. I thought our team was eager to compete. We played hard, we played smart, we played together and we had fun. Great to see Maria Ross and Reagan Posorske grab their first collegiate dual match wins!"
Every athlete tallied at least a victory on the day, led by junior Jackie Urbinati and freshman Natasha Irani, recording four wins apiece.
Â
Senior Asiya Dair, sophomores Dasha Possokhova and Elene Tsokilauri registered three wins apiece.
Â
The doubles pairing of Tsokilauri and Urbinati – the only duo to play together in both matches – produced two wins as BC swept all of the doubles competition throughout the course of the day.
Â
Up next, the Eagles will travel to Hanover, N.H. February 2 and 3 to challenge Dartmouth the first day, then William & Mary the following day as a neutral site matchup.
