Derdeyn and Kea nab performers of the meet
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College swimming and diving teams swept Tufts Tuesday night in Chestnut Hill. The women's team's final point tally was more than double Tufts' – 263-111 – while the men pulled out a 191-179 victory over the Jumbos.
Â
"We were very happy with the wins," said assistant coach Dan Kelly on the evening. "We are especially proud of the men, who came together to pull off the win in a close meet while missing six contributors who were out from sickness or injury."
Â
Junior Colin Derdeyn garnered the male performer of the meet after victories in both the 50 butterfly and the 100 butterfly. Derdeyn posted a season-best 20.66 run during the freestyle split in the 200 medley relay, as well.
Â
The female performer of the meet was garnered by freshman Ali Kea after winning two individual races – the 50 and 100 yard relays – as well as being a key contributor to the victories of the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
