BC Picked to Finish Fourth in Hockey East Preseason Poll

The Eagles received one first-place vote in the Hockey East preseason poll
BOSTON – Boston College has been ranked fourth in the Hockey East preseason poll, including one first-place vote, as voted on by the league coaches and was announced at the conference's annual media day at TD Garden on Tuesday morning, Sept. 26. The Eagles received 75 overall votes.
Boston University (90 votes) was tabbed first, while UMass Lowell (88 votes) and Providence (83 votes) were picked second and third, respectively. UMass Lowell actually collected the most first-place votes with five (5) while the Terriers and Friars each notched a pair. Along with the Eagles (75 votes), Northeastern (72 votes) picked up a first-place vote as well and was selected to finish fifth.
Vermont (54 votes), Connecticut (39 votes), New Hampshire (37 votes), Merrimack (29 votes) were slotted sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth, in that order, while Maine (19 votes) and Massachusetts (19 votes) tied for 10th.
Boston College had its seven-year run of consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances cut short last season and is eager to get back to the postseason in 2017-18.
The Eagles last season with a 21-15-4 record, marking the eight-consecutive season BC has stockpiled 20 or more wins, every year since the 2009-10 season. The eight-straight 20-win seasons are the third-longest streak in college hockey behind Denver (16 seasons) and North Dakota (14 seasons).
Despite missing the NCAA Tournament, Boston College won its league-record 15th Hockey East regular season championship, claiming nearly half of the league's regular season crowns in its 33 years of existence. The Eagles joined UMass Lowell and Boston University as the league's first tri-Hockey East regular champion.
Eighteen letterwinners return to the 2017-18 roster along with seven newcomers, including one graduate transfer from the University of Michigan (Kevin Lohan), look to get back to Boston College's 26th appearance in the Frozen Four, which will be held at Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis.
New this year at Boston College, both men's and women's hockey programs will have all regular season games from Kelley Rink streamed on WatchESPN, ESPN's online home.

Additionally, the 66th annual Beanpot Tournament will be televised on the New England Sports Network (NESN), starting with the Eagles first round clash against Northeastern on Monday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m.. The championship and consolation game will be the following Monday, Feb. 12.
The Eagles officially open the season with an exhibition bout against New Brunswick on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Warrior Ice Arena in Boston. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Boston College's 96th hockey season will open at home on Kelley Rink against Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
