Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College football team fought a tough battle against No. 2 Clemson but fell, 34-7, at Memorial "Death Valley" Stadium in Clemson, S.C. on Saturday afternoon.
For three quarters though, the Eagles quieted the crowd of over 80,000 fans as the BC defense held the defending National Champions to just seven points.
The Tigers scored 27 points in the final quarter, but the Eagles were able to execute their game plan throughout. The goal was to take the game into the fourth quarter and the Eagles did just that.
With the injuries suffered by left offensive tackle Aaron Monteiro (lower body) and middle linebacker Max Richardson (knee), the Eagles had other players step up. Junior linebacker Kevin Bletzer, who made his first career start against Notre Dame, had a strong performance against Clemson with three solo tackles, three assisted ones, a half-sack and a forced fumble.
Despite the final score, head coach Steve Addazio is encouraged by the way his team performed in the first three quarters against Clemson and believes that there are reasons to be optimistic moving forward.
