Eagles' rising senior tabbed one of the conference's top student-athletes
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College rising senior Asiya Dair was one of 30 women's tennis student-athletes named to the 2016-17 ACC All-Academic Team, which the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday.
Â
This is Dair's second straight ACC All-Academic recognition after also earning the honor for the 2015-16 season as a sophomore. Overall, this is the women's program's seventh academic all-conference honor.
Â
In the 2017 spring dual season, Dair posted an overall record of 23-19 in both singles and doubles. She played exclusively at the No. 1 singles spot for the Eagles this spring, registering a 12-12 record – including 5-9 mark in ACC action. In doubles, Dair went 11-7, including an 8-2 mark with sophonore Jackie Urbinati in the No. 3 spot. She also went 4-4 in singles against nationally-ranked foes.
Â
Dair is a three-time All-ACC Third Team performer.
Â
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
