Miami Defeats Men in ACC Championship

Austin wins in second singles
ROME, Ga. – The Boston College men's tennis team fell, 5-1, to Miami on Wednesday in the opening round of the ACC Championship.
In doubles play, senior Hank Workman and junior Kent Mukai earned a 6-4 victory on the No. 3 court for the 13th-seeded Eagles. However, the 12th-seeded Hurricanes clinched the doubles point with victories on the Nos. 1 and 2 courts.
Miami's Max Andrews and Jesse Flores – ranked 55th nationally in doubles – defeated senior Aidan McNulty and junior Jeffrey Melvin 7-6 in first doubles. The Hurricanes' Piotr Lomacki and Nile Clark earned a 6-2 win in second doubles against Austin and junior Conor Mullins.
Austin won in second singles over Langmo, earning a 6-2, 7-6 (7-6) victory.
The Eagles forced a third set in three singles matches, but the Hurricans won four singles contests to secure the team victory. First Andrews defeated Workman 6-2, 6-1 in third singles. McNulty won the first set in first singles against Lomacki – ranked 64th nationally. However, Lomacki earned the 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory. In sixth singles, Dunlap defeated Mullins 7-5, 6-7, 7-6. In fourth singles, Flores defeated Mukai 6-7, 6-3, 6-1.
BC finished the season 5-18.
