Eight Eagles Named to National Academic Squad

Field hockey continues to excel on and off the field
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Eight Boston College field hockey players were by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Wednesday for their exemplary work in the classroom.

Senior back Alexa Brazauskas, senior goaltender Audra Hampsch, sophomore All-America back Frederique Haverhals, sophomore midfielder Carly Kauffman, sophomore forward Lucy Lytle, junior forward Brooke Matherson, junior back Alyssa Olenick and junior back Justine Sheehan all earned places on the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, which recognizes all student-athletes who posted a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the first semester.

Additionally, head coach Kelly Doton's squad was the NFHCA National Academic Team Award, which is a recognition for all teams that posted a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester. In the fall, the Eagles posted a 3.25 GPA as a team.

The eight Eagles who earned a place on the National Academic Squad matches the program's record for honorees, first set in 2016.

Hampsch was a four-time National Academic Squad honoree, while Olenick and Sheenan each picked up their third recognition. Brazauskas, Kauffman and Lytle are two-time honorees, and Haverhals and Matherson made their first appearances on the list.
