Robertson, Ashnault Lead the Pack at UVM Carnival

Stowe, V.T. - Junior Carter Robertson and sophomore Dannica Ashnault led Boston College at the UVM Winter Carnival that ran from Feb. 4-5 in Stowe, VT..
In the men's slalom, Robertson placed 13th out of 48 finishers and recorded a total time of 1:58.82 over two runs. Senior Ryan Barney finished close behind in 25th place, with a time of 2:00.93 while junior Brian Mangiacotti ended the day in 40th place with a total time of 2:12.98. The trio earned BC 51 points, which placed the Eagles seventh out of 13 teams in the event.
In the women's slalom, Ashnault placed 24th out of 44 skiers with a time of 2:10.89 over her two runs. Sophomore Natalie Wetmore and senior Bug Pech also raced in the event, finishing 38th and 41st, respectively. Wetmore recorded a time of 2:23.55 and Pech finished at 2:33.49. The ladies earned BC 28 points which placed the Eagles in 12th place.
Barney and Mangiacotti represented the Eagles in the men's giant slalom and finished in 30th and 35th, respectively, out of 37 finishers. Barney recorded a total time of 2:22.06, while Mangiacotti recorded a time of 2:29.22. The pair earned 25 points and BC placed 11th as a team.
With four skiers in the women's giant slalom, Pech led the Eagles with a 32nd place among 47 competitors. She posted a time of 2:33.61. Behind her, Senior Kristie Ryan, Wetmore, and Ashnault placed 41st, 43rd, and 45th, respectively, recording times of 2:38.96, 2:39.72, and 2:41.22. BC earned 20 points for their performances and placed 11th as a team.
The Eagles are next in action on Feb 10-11 in Hanover, N.H., for the Dartmouth Carnival.
