BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman guard Taylor Ortlepp tied her career-high with 19 points, four assists and five rebounds.
- Kelly Hughes hit five three-pointers and finished with 20 points. She moved into second, tied with former Syracuse great Brianna Butler, on the ACC's all-time three-pointer list with 320 career three-pointers.
- Sophomore Mariella Fasoula pitched in with 14 points and eight boards while freshman Georgia Pineau had 13 points.
- BC had 19 assists on 29 field goals made.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hokies opened up the contest on a 14-5 run behind a pair of three-pointers from Kendyl Brooks (career-high 7 three's, 23 points).
- Hughes knocked down a pair of three-pointers to tie the game up at 38 a piece with under a minute to play in the half. Virginia Tech point guard Chanette Hicks jumper that gave the Hokies a two-point lead at the half, 40-38.
- Virginia Tech's Regan Magarity (26 points, 16 rebounds) and senior Samantha Hill combined for 18 points in the third quarter as the Hokies held a, 58-50.
- The Hokies built a 16 point lead with 3:12 to play in the game. The Eagles mounted a late comeback sparked by a three-pointer from Kailey Edwards with 1:45 to play, which cut the lead to seven points.
- Kelly Hughes would hit three three-pointers in the final minute, which cut the lead to just one point, 80-79, with 12 seconds to play. Samantha Hill nailed two freebies to seal the victory for Virginia Tech.
