The Eagles sweep Merrimack after today's 1-0 win in Game 2 of their quarterfinal series
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – All-America defenseman Megan Keller scored her second goal of the series and Katie Burt recorded her second shutout in as many games as the sixth-ranked and top-seeded Boston College women's hockey team topped Merrimack, 1-0, to advance to the Hockey East Tournament semifinals next Saturday.
The Eagles swept the best-of-three series following Thursday's 4-0 win, and will make their seventh-straight appearance in the conference tournament's semifinal round. BC is the defending champion of the event.
Keller's goal at 13:01 of the first period stood as the game-winner. It was her fourth point of the series as she factored in four of BC's five goals in the two games against the Warriors.
Boston College out-shot Merrimack 47-28 on Friday. Burt made 28 saves in the shutout effort, her highest total in any of her seven shutouts this season. She now has 30 in her career, and is tied for fifth place on the NCAA career shutouts chart. Merrimack's Samantha Ridgewell made 46 saves in the loss.
The Hockey East semifinals and championship will be played at Boston University's Walter Brown Arena next weekend. Boston College will play the 1:30 p.m. semifinal on Saturday, March 4, but must wait to learn its semifinal opponent. The Eagles will face the lowest-remaining seed in the tournament after this weekend's quarterfinal series that include No. 7 Connecticut at No. 2 Northeastern, No. 6 New Hampshire at No. 3 Boston University and No. 5 Vermont at No. 4 Providence.

Keller's first-period goal was the 25th goal of her career … she sits third on the BC career defensemen goals chart, one back of Blake Bolden '13 and four behind record holder Genevieve Missirlian '99 (29)

With her assist on Megan Keller's first-period goal, Andie Anastos moved into a tie for fifth place on the Eagles' career scoring chart, matching Allie Thunstrom '10 with 139 career points
Anastos registered her 84th career assist at Boston College, sixth-most in program history … it was her 24th assist this season, a new single-season best for the senior
That assist also pushed her season point total to 37, matching her previous single-season best of 37 which she set last year
This was also the 152nd game of Anastos' career … she is now tied for second on the BC career games played list with Meghan Grieves '16, who also played 152 games … Lexi Bender '16 is the career leader with 154 games played in her career
Serena Sommerfield collected her fourth assist of the season and her career … all of her five career points have come this year
Katie Burt recorded the 2,000 save of her career in the first period with her stop of Katelyn Rae midway through the stanza … she is the fifth goaltender in program history to reach the 2,000 save mark … she is now 325 saves back of fourth place on the Eagles' career saves chart, behind Lisa Davis '05, who had 2,347 in her career

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 1st, 13:01 | 1-0, BC GOAL – Merrimack cleared the puck from its defensive zone, but Serena Sommerfield collected it just past the red line and cycled it back around, playing it wide left to Megan Keller. Keller took two strides and passed ahead to Andie Anastos just off the blue blue line, and Anastos replied with a give-and-go pass back to Keller as she cut into the zone. Keller ripped a rising wrist shot from the faceoff circle, beating Samantha Ridgewell for a BC lead.
