
Possokhova, Urbinati Go 4-0 in Saturday Sweep

All eight Eagles earn at least one victory to begin homestand
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's tennis team won two nonconference contests at home with a 7-0 victory against Rhode Island in the morning and a 6-1 rout against Bryant in the afternoon.

Freshman Dasha Possokhova and sophomore Jackie Urbinati each won two singles matches and two doubles matches for the Eagles (3-3).

Possokhova improved to 5-1 in dual-season singles matches with a 6-3, 6-0 win in third singles against Rhode Island (4-5) and a 6-2, 6-2 win in second singles against Bryant (0-3). Possokhova and freshman Kylie Wilcox won both first doubles matches.

Wilcox, junior Asiya Dair, senior Lexi Borr and freshmen Micayla Casella each went 3-0 in the two contests. Dair won both first singles matches in straight sets and also earned a 6-0 victory in third doubles with Urbinati against Bryant.

Borr earned two 6-2 victories in second doubles and a 6-0, 6-3 win in second singles against Rhode Island.

Casella made her dual-season debut against the Rams. Casella and Urbinati won 6-1 in third doubles, and Casella earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory in sixth singles in the contest. Then Casella won her next sixth singles match 6-4, 6-4 against Bryant.

Every member of the Eagles won at least one match Saturday. The Eagles swept both doubles series and have won their last five doubles points.

BC finishes its homestand Friday at 5 p.m. against Brown at the Dedham Health and Fitness Center.
