CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's basketball team will open up the 2017-18 season on Friday against Bryant in Conte Forum at noon. Fans can watch the game on ACC Network Extra. Fans can also follow along with LiveStats.
The Eagles return two starters from the 2016-17 team – sophomore forward Georgia Pineau and freshman guard Taylor Ortlepp. Sophomore forward Emma Guy, who made 11 starts, also returns after shooting a team-high 54 percent from the floor as a rookie.
Senior guard Martina Mosetti, who has 65 career starts, returns as the back-up point guard. She is a creative scorer who can hit the mid-range jumper. Another senior who will be relied on will be 6-foot-3 center Katie Quandt as well as back-up guard Rachel Gartner.
The Eagles will look for an immediate impact from freshman guard Sydney Lowery and freshman forward/guard Milan Bolden-Morris. Both are proven scorers and are being asked to adjust to the college game quickly. Lowery is the all-time leading scorer at St. Luke's School in Connecticut. She scored over 2,000 career points. Bolden-Morris, a native of Florida, holds the record for most three-pointers with 258 and has is the all-time leading scorer with 2,025 points at Cardinal Newman High School.
An interesting addition to the team is graduate student Andie Anastos. The Michigan native joined the team in June after she finished playing four years of hockey at Boston College. A two-time team captain, Anastos will add leadership and toughness to the Eagles roster.
