BC travels to Buffalo, N.Y. to compete in the 10K race
Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College men's cross country team will compete at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 10 at noon in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Eagles will be running the 10K course against 38 other teams. ACC rival and winner of the ACC Championships, Syracuse, will be in attendance.
Seven student-athletes will be competing for the Eagles, including sophomore Zach Beston, junior Sean Burke, freshman Kyle Faddis, senior Brian McDavitt, junior Benjamin Osipow, sophomore Ian Ritchie and sophomore Sean Sullivan.
Last year at Van Cortdlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y., BC finished in 19th place overall out of 35 teams. Then sophomore Sean Burke led the Eagles with an eighth place finish with a time of 30:45.74 in the 10K run. Burke earned All-Region honors and qualified to race in the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Head coach Matt Kerr is expecting his team to have strong all-around performances at the meet this year. Â
"I think we are going to run our best meet of the year at regionals," Kerr said. "They are a strong group of guys. They will run well over a 10K. I think that the pace over the longer distance will suit them. It's a slow course, but I think we'll handle ourselves in those conditions fine. Our guys just have to go risk a little bit more early and be prepared to work hard and they should improve. They are running really well."
Syracuse was the team champion last year and Justyn Knight of Syracuse was the top individual finisher.
