After three straight ACC victories, the Boston College football team lost to No. 23 NC State, 14-17, at Alumni Stadium on Saturday.
The Eagles have now fallen to 5-5 and have two more games to attain bowl eligibility.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown made a cut on a keeper at the NC State 13-yard line with 13:06 to play in the second quarter and his knee buckled. He did not return to the game and he will miss the remainder of the season. Â
Brown started 10 games and was one of the top freshman in the country with 1,367 passing yards and 11 touchdowns.
Despite losing All-America defensive end Harold Landry for the second straight game with an ankle injury, losing defensive back Kamrin Moore in the game with a shoulder injury and having Brown sidelined, the Eagles still played a competitive game against the nationally ranked Wolfpack.
With Brown out for the season, graduate Darius Wade is prepared to step up for the Eagles. His game management in the second half of the Eagles' 45-42 upset of Louisville on Oct. 15 proved successful and he looks to remain consistent when the Eagles take on UConn at Fenway Park on Saturday night.
In other BC sports news, the men's basketball team defeated Sacred Heart on Tuesday, Nov. 14 to go 3-0 to start the 2017-18 season. Graduate Deontae Hawkins led the Eagles with 22 points and he also recorded eight rebounds on the night.
Hawkins also rallied his teammates in between halves. According to head coach Jim Christian, Hawkins is well-respected in the locker room. The Dayton, Ohio product helped the Eagles earn a 73-53 victory over the Pioneers.
