Double Win Weekend for Eagles

Volleyball captures their first three-set victory of the season over Clemson.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – With four Eagles hitting over .300 on the afternoon, Boston College volleyball swept Clemson for its second ACC win of the weekend Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers challenged the Eagles in the first set after a Clemson service ace forced extra rallies, but the Eagles were ultimately victorious. They went on to win the following two sets by 15 and 13 points, respectively, garner their first three-set triumph of 2017.
Graduate Lynn Braakhuis drove the Eagles with 13 kills, hitting .458 against the Clemson. Sophomore Jane DeJarld (15) and junior Camille Oemcke (14) led in assists, while sophomore Jill Strockis paced the defense with nine digs. The Eagles also registered 11 service aces for their highest in a single match this season.
Clemson's Kaylin Korte led their attack with nine kills and 12 points.

BC HIGHLIGHTS

- Four Eagles individually hit over .300: freshman Amaka Chukwujekwu (.500), Goss (.500), Braakhuis (.458) and senior Sol Calvete (.312).
- DeJarld and Oemcke led the match in assists with 15 and 14, respectively.
- BC notched 11 aces to Clemson's three. This is the team's highest of the 2017 campaign.
- Three of the Eagles' 11 aces came from Braakhuis, tying her season high in a single match.

- Chukwujekwu, thanks to four blocks on the afternoon, has now reached 51 blocks this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Early in the set, a kill from Calvete established a 7-0 run for the Eagles. The squads earned points back-and-forth until a kill from Braakhuis and a Calvete service ace secured a first-set win, 26-24.
SET 2
The Eagles kicked off a 7-1 run courtesy of a kill from Balido. Following 8-7 Eagles, BC found a groove and a 17-3 run all the way to a second-set success, 25-10.
SET 3
DeJarld opened scoring for the Eagles with two straight service aces. There were a few points traded before BC hit yet another run, this time 8-0. The Tigers could not come up with rally wins and the Eagles finished the set, and the match, on a 4-1 run that included two kills and a block from Goss and a service ace from redshirt sophomore Natalie Canulli. The Eagles took the set 25-12, and their second ACC win of the weekend.
