Volleyball fell in three sets to Syracuse
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team were swept by Syracuse Wednesday event in Chestnut Hill.

Sophomore Jill Strockis led the match with 16 digs, while sophomore Jane DeJarld notched 18 assists, a team high. Graduate Lynn Braakhuis paced the Eagles with 10 kills on the night and 11 points, closely followed by junior McKenna Goss tallying nine kills and 9.5 points.

The Orange were paced by Anastasiya Gorelina, recording 11 kills and 13 points. Ella Saada slated the only double-double of the night thanks to 10 kills and 10 digs.

- Strockis registered the match high in digs, with 16.
- Freshman Amaka Chukwujekwu hit .750 in the first set, recording three kills. Sophomore Sophie West hit .333 in the same set.

- Braakhuis hit .429 in the third set, registering four kills, while Goss hit .375 from three kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Syracuse began the match making small runs that the Eagles would break up with a point here and there. BC clawed its way back into the match with kills from Braakhuis, Chukwujekwu and sophomore Sophie West. A kill from Calvete brought the Eagles to 20 points, but the Orange nabbed the first set, 25-22

SET 2
The Orange found an early 5-1 to take a quick lead, 9-6. After some rallying, Syracuse hit another run, this time 9-1, handing them at 10-point lead. The Eagles could not stage a comeback and fell in the second set, 25-16.

SET 3
Again, Syracuse made an early 6-2 to pull into the lead. This time, the Eagle answered with their own 6-0 run, sparked by a kill from Braakhuis. Points were traded until Syracuse sealed the win with a 5-2 run to end the set, 25-21, and the match.
