Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College football team bounced back from its loss against No. 2 Clemson and won its first home game of the season, 28-8, against Central Michigan at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The victory included three touchdowns from junior running back Jon Hilliman and a strong performance by true freshman running back AJ Dillon, who rushed for 120 yards on 25 carries with a 15-yard score. Hilliman's two rushing touchdowns moved him into a 10th place tie with Mike Holovak with 23 career scoring runs.
Junior wide receiver Michael Walker helped shift the momentum of the game for the Eagles, rushing for 128 yards on four returns. Walker's speed helped give the Eagles good field position throughout the game.
With seven of the Eagles starting lineup out with injuries, senior linebacker Ty Schwab has stepped up as a leader on a defense that held Central Michigan to just eight points on Saturday.
The Eagles are preparing to take on No. 16 Virginia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 7. Redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown has gained more experience each game that will help him compete against the Hokies defense.
In other BC sports news, senior forward for the women's ice hockey team and attacker on the lacrosse team Kenzie Kent, was featured in the Boston Globe for her ability to balance being captain of the fourth-ranked Boston College women's hockey team and being a standout member of the lacrosse team.
