Fall Season Gets Underway at Harvard Classic

Eagles open the fall tournament season across the river

BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's tennis team opened the 2016-17 campaign over the weekend at the Harvard Fall Classic. The Eagles performed well, going a combined 21-9 in all matches.

Seven of the eight rostered Eagles competed in the event with junior Asiya Dair, sophomore Jackie Urbinati and freshman Elene Tsokilauri all going 5-1 on the weekend between singles and doubles competition.

Dair and Urbinati both went 3-0 in singles, while Tsokilauri was a perfect 3-0 in doubles while pairing with Urbinati for two matches and fellow freshman Dasha Possokhova for one.

Seniors Lexi Borr and Emily Safron and Possakhova all went 4-2, while freshman Micayla Casella went 1-2 while competing in only singles. Safron was 3-0 in doubles after playing with Dair in two matches and Borr in one. Casella picked up her first collegiate win on Sunday against Harvard, winning in straight sets.

The Eagles will return to the court in two weeks when they travel to New Haven, Conn., for the Bulldog Invitational hosted by Yale, Oct. 7-9.
