TURNING POINT
Senior Hayley Dowd scored her second goal of the season in the 43rd minute off a beautiful pass from Lauren Berman to give BC a 1-0 lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles scored when Jade Ruiters won the loose ball in the box. She one-touched the ball to Lauren Berman, who was outside the box. Berman turned and fed Hayley Dowd to the right of the Cincinnati goalkeeper Claudia Eustaquio. Dowd ripped a right-footed shot to the far corner, to give BC the 1-0 lead.
- BC controlled the tempo of the game and had a 9-2 edge in shots. The Eagles also had three corners kicks while not yielding a corner to the Bearcats.
- Cincinnati came out with energy at the start of the second half. In the first four minutes, the Bearcats two corners and five shots. BC's goalkeeper Alexis Bryant came up with two big saves during the pressure. The most impressive stop came in the 50th minutes on a one-timer from six yards out by Jordan Cotleur. The rebound was cleared by Samantha Hiatt, which then set up a counter attack that resulted in a header by Meehan that just went wide of the goal.
- Senior McKenzie Meehan made it 2-0 with her fourth goal of the season. Meehan pounced on a loose ball that was mishandled by the Cincinnati goalkeeper. Meehan never gave up on the play and put the loose ball in the back of the net in the 58th minute.
- After Meehan's goal, the Eagles defense held Cincinnati to just three shots, two on goal. Bryant again turned away a solid chance from Bearcat Gabrielle LoPresti in the 78th minute.
