Endicott College dedicates dorm to Pete Frates

Boston College baseball Alumnus honored Tuesday afternoont
A local hero and national sensation now has a college building named in his honor.
Pete Frates, a former Boston College baseball playe, was honored Tuesday evening at Endicott College which is located in his hometown of Beverly, Mass.
Frates was diagnosed with ALS in 2012 at the age of 27, and has been an active advocate since. He was the inspiration behind the "Ice Bucket Challenge," which succesfully brought awareness to the diease and raised over $115 millions for various ALC organizations, most notebly the ALS Assocation.Â
In addition to the unveiling of "Peter Frates Hall," 2,000 Endicott students participated in a Ice Bucket Challenge to show their support for the cause. Dr. Richard E. Wylie, Endicott College's president, also extended free tuition, room, and board to the Frates' two-year old daughter Lucy.
